Tuesday Tip - Summer & Hydration
Every Tuesday on my FB page - I offer some easy tips to try. Today? It’s summer - so how much water to drink?
Just a friendly Tuesday Tip that getting enough water to drink is really important. Just a few things drinking water does (some will surprise you!):
*Dewy skin
*Thinking clearly
*Lubricates joints
*Less sticky/dry saliva and mucus membranes
*Delivers oxygen throughout your body
*Cushions your brain and spinal cord
*Critical for digestion and flushing waste
*Improved sports performance
*Regulates your body temp
*Helps you breathe better (airways constrict when dehydrated to conserve on water loss.)
And it’s critical for your HEART HEALTH.
Keeping the body hydrated helps the heart more easily pump blood through the blood vessels to the muscles. More hydrated means your heart doesn’t have to work as hard.
As far as amounts go – I drink around a liter upon waking. We get dehydrated throughout the night of sleep. Throw a little squirt of lemon in if you like.
Then 1 liters throughout the day.
More if you’re active.
Less if you feel gluggy.
And NO bubbly water isn’t the same thing (it bloats you and can cause some gas pain and make sure it's not hiding salt, sugar - but it will hydrate you.)
And YES you will pee more – but that’s a GOOD THING.
